Lucas Cheng

Counsellor & Psychotherapist

Lucas Cheng

Lucas provides integrative, trauma-informed counselling for adults and adolescents from diverse cultural backgrounds. He is particularly interested in attachment and relational patterns, complex trauma, perfectionism, and addictive behaviours.

Lucas believes that authenticity and curiosity are essential to building meaningful therapeutic relationships. From this foundation, he works collaboratively with clients to explore their perceptions of themselves, others, and the world, while fostering new perspectives and deepening self-awareness within the context of their lived experiences.

Originally from Mainland China, Lucas has lived and studied in both Hong Kong and the United States. His clinical experience in the US, where he supported a diverse range of clients presenting with issues including depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD and addiction, continues to provide an important foundation for his practice. As a tutor in the Department of Psychology at HKU, he also remains closely connected to the experiences and challenges faced by students and young adults. Lucas brings a culturally responsive and identity-affirming perspective to his work and welcomes conversations about the complexities of living across cultures, languages, values,
identities, and communities.
