Counsellors and therapists
Maple Tree Counselling was founded in Hong Kong in 2021 by Simon Westcott and three other partners, brought together by a shared vision, rich life experience, passion and professionalism.
British by birth and Australian by choice, Simon returned to Melbourne in January 2023 to replicate the model here. Working between Melbourne (Carlton North) and Central Victoria (Castlemaine), Simon believes in the benefits of both short-term, goal-oriented counselling and longer-term, ‘in-depth’ psychoanalytic psychotherapy. He treats clients from many different cultures with a wide variety of mental health issues.
Simon is joined by long-standing colleague, John Cameron, a like-minded psychotherapist and practising psychoanalyst with a similar mix of deep theoretical and therapeutic expertise and a strong grounding in their own lived experience and pre-practice professional history.
John also works at Maple Tree Counselling’s Melbourne location in Carlton North. His practice is psychoanalytically informed, supporting adults, adolescents and children, both in times of crisis and in long-term treatment to address sources of deeper inner conflict, anxiety and distress.
